Shao Qiwei,National Tourism Administrator, on the 7th, in 2009 the National Work Conference on Tourism, said the key source markets in 2008 ,except  that  Hong Kong and the Russian markets remained steady growth, that South Korea, Japan, the two major market dropped to double-digit and most source markets fell completely . In 2009, China's major source markets, such as the United States, the European Union, Japan, Korea, Southeast Asia could not be optimistic about growth in tourism demand, China's inbound tourism market is facing severe challenges. In 2009, it is  essential for China's tourism industry to develop "domestic demand" .

Shao Qiwei said that the whole world by the U.S. sub-loan crisis of the international financial crisis has not yet bottomed out, the impact on the real economy is deepening, and its serious consequences will further show  that China's development in the external economic environment will be even more severe. The current and the future , it is  uncertain that the tourism will  developed increasely . According to the World Tourism Organization  forecasted that in 2009 the global number of international tourists is  not more than 2 percent growth, even zero growth; the Asia-Pacific region as the world's fastest growing region in the tourism industry, one of the 2009 growth rate of international visitors is not more than 2% and is significantly lower than the forecast level of the past.

Due to great  changes in the market at home and abroad, the tour enterprises are exacerbated by the increasing competition in the international tourism market . China has been also seriously affected. Immigration  operated by tourism-oriented travel agents  continued to decline; business customers, high-end customers, reducing inbound tourists, a group of high-star hotels and business hotels occupancy rate remained low;  scenic spots attracting the number of foreign tourists obvious reduced; eastern coastal areas, especially inbound tourism market is facing a rigorous test. But generally speaking, China's tourism industry has declined  by the enormous potential impact.
